WHO/WHAT: The Honolulu Film Festival presents “Through the Doggy Door,” which tells the story of Sheldon Paishon, a surfer from west O’ahu who has to overcome the challenges that come with growing up homeless and in harsh poverty. Sheldon’s talent is recognized by Mason Ho, a pro surfer, and is given guidance as he works towards also becoming a pro surfer. It is a story of inspiration that aims to help raise awareness about poverty and homelessness and show the value of self-belief.
