WHO/WHAT: Lawrence Repeta, a former lawyer, business executive and law professor in Japan and the United States, has a newly released book, “Japanese Prisoners of Conscience,” which takes readers into the criminal justice system — specifically focusing on a case that poses questions about government authority to go to war, freedom of political speech and treatment of criminal suspects. The book talk on “Japanese Prisoners of Conscience” will be commentated by University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Professor Emerita Patricia Steinhoff.
