WHO/WHAT: The Nisei Veterans Legacy hosts this annual service to honor the Nisei soldiers who valiantly served our country during WWII despite facing discrimination. Most served in the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Military Intelligence Service and 1399 Engineer Construction Battalion. Many Nisei women also served in the Women’s Army Corps and Army Nurse Corps. When the veterans returned to Hawai‘i after the war, many continued to pursue lives of service – working with many others, they helped to change the political, social and economic landscape of Hawai‘i into a more open society for all. Attending the service is free and open to the public.

WHEN/WHERE: Sunday, Sept. 25, 9:30 a.m., National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl, 2177 Puowaina Dr.
