WHO/WHAT: The 2022 Los Angeles Day of Remembrance will commemorate 80 years since President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued the Executive Order 9066, which authorized a military order to remove and incarcerate a mass collection of persons of Japanese ancestry into American concentration camps during World War II. This year’s programming will be headlined by the theme of “Power of Communities: Building Strength Through Collective Action” with a conversation between activists Traci Kato-Kiriyama and Kathy Kasaoka, along with Dreisen Heath, who’s an expert on reparations and reparatory justice, about the need for solidarity around reparations work in the present day.
