WHO/WHAT: Celebrate Asian-Pacific Heritage Month with storyteller Alton Takiyama-Chung, one of Hawai‘i’s most beloved performers. A Japanese-Korean storyteller, Alton grew up steeped in the rich storytelling traditions of Hawaiʻi. He tells stories of those islands, of the Japanese-American experience of World War II, and Asian folktales, and has performed at the Timpanogas and the National Storytelling Festivals, and at international storytelling festivals in the Cayman Islands, Singapore, India, Vietnam, and Thailand. Oakland Public Library sponsors this FREE online event, where Alton shares tales from Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and more.
