WHO/WHAT: the 69th Cherry Blossom Festival invites Hawai’i students in grades 3-12 to enter its annual “Haiku Art Contest”. Young learners with creative-writing and artistic skills should submit BOTH haiku AND original, two-dimensional artwork for consideration.

Both haiku and artwork should somehow express this years CBF theme of “kibou” (希望), meaning hope, wish, aspiration.

Original English-language haiku should be printed out on an 8 1/2 x 11″ paper, then put together with the haiku. Two-dimensional art can include drawings, photography, paintings, and prints. For other contest rules, see cbfhawaii.com/haikuart, or email cbfhawaii@gmail.com

WHEN/WHERE: Entries must be postmarked by Saturday, Oct 3, and will not be returned. Enclosed haiku and artwork in an envelope together with a completed contestant and parent (or guardian) signed HAIKU ART CONTEST APPLICATION FORM, found on cbfhawaii.com/haikuart then mail to: 69th CBF Haiku Art Contest, P.O.
