WHO/WHAT: Kauaʻi residents interested in independent careers in the agricultural industry can attend “AgCurious,” the first of four training phas-es to become a successful, small-scale, commercial farmer.
This free introduction to GoFarm Hawaiʻi, the University of Hawaiʻi’s Statewide Beginning Farmer Training Program, will teach attendees about GoFarm’s requirements and the level of commitment the program demands; explain the need for farmers in the state; describe what it takes to farm, including practical options for beginning; and review how to apply to “AgXpo-sure” (the next GoFarm Kauaʻi phase for this cohort of learners, from Sept. 26-Oct. 24). Attendees can also speak with current participants, alumni and the GoFarm Kauaʻi site coach.
WHEN/WHERE: Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. HST, via Zoom (Cohort 9, Kauaʻi). Sign up at gofarmhawaii.org/agcurious-signup/ for the link.
