WHO/WHAT: To celebrate the International Day of Peace in Hawaiʻi, Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii will coordinate, first, a shared minute of silence, then, a collective ringing of bells, across the islands (and world!). Through internet streaming, HHMH Bishop Eric Matsumoto will lead this virtual event, so that youth representatives of various Buddhist and cultural organizations may participate distantly — from their temples, churches, schools and community organizations.

WHEN/WHERE: Monday, Sept. 21.The minute of silence begins at noon HST; the bell-ringing starts at 12:01 p.m. HST. Later, a post-event video will be available on demand. Participation forms and more information will be posted to hongwanjihawaii.com/news/. Questions? Contact Chair Rene Mans-ho of the HHMH Peace Day Committee: (808) 291-6151 or renemansho@hawaii.rr.com.
