WHO/WHAT: The Nisei Veterans Memorial Center presents its exhibit, “Internment: Stories from Maui” featuring stories, photos and history about Maui residents who were detained in camps on Maui and the U.S. mainland.
On February 19, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 authorizing the internment of Japanese Americans, German Americans and Italian Americans in camps in the United States. About 110,000 people of Japanese ancestry were interned.
