WHO/WHAT: The Japan-America Society of Hawaii hosts its annual “Tomodachi Holiday Tea” — casual teatime with light sandwiches, pastries and fellowship.

This year’s entertainment will be a vocal performance by Jun Ariake, a retired Takarazuka Revue performer from Tokyo, who currently lives in Hawai‘i.

Established in 1913, the Takarazuka Revue is a renowned, all-female, Japanese musical theater troupe based in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture. Women play all of the roles in lavish Broadway-style productions of Western-style musicals as well as traditional Japanese classics. Ariake debuted in 1969 and was a member of the Moon Troupe from 1970 to 1986.

WHEN/WHERE: Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., at Waioli Kitchen and Bake Shop (2950 Manoa Rd.).

COST: $55 per person (members, $45). For more information or to purchase tickets online visit https://www.jashawaii.org/holidaytea.
