The acts of revenge are believed to have ended with the suicide of Yugo Katsuragi. However, a year later, Jinnai Gen, a former management consultant who was arrested for mediating a bribe from a major construction, is murdered by someone after his release. Keigo and Minagawa investigate this case. Meanwhile, the grandson of Kobayakawa, a lawmaker of the Lower House, is kidnapped. Keigo is designated to negotiate with the kidnapper who demands that he bring the same amount of ransom money to the same place for the handover as when Yugo was abducted 21 years ago. “Nagi no Oitoma (Nagi’s Long Vacation),” premiers Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:35 p.m.
Nagi is a 28 year-old employee of consumer appliance maker, feeling she must try her hardest to “read the room” so as to interact well with others. But her striving to adapt to others leads her one day to hyperventilate and collapse. “I need to rethink my life!” she proclaims, physically and mentally exhausted. She decides to “reset” her life. She quits her job, and breaks off all contact with her boyfriend and everyone she knows, and goes on a solitary search to discover the “freedom” to enjoy her own life. Moving to a new neighborhood and new life, however, presents both new and old challenges. She meets the man living next door, someone she might define as “too free” and reencounters her boyfriend, from whom she’d hoped to escape. Fully subtitled in English.
