WHO/WHAT: The 74th anniversary of the Aug. 6, 1945, atomic bombing of Hiroshima will be commemorated at this annual memorial service. It will include a blessing and purification ceremony, messages from community and religious leaders and youth from the YMCA of Honolulu. Among the speakers will be Hiroshima bomb survivor Lawrence Fumio Miwa, whose diary is included in the book on his family, “Tadaima! I am Home,” by Tom Coffman.

WHEN/WHERE: Tuesday, Aug. 6, 11 a.m.-noon at the Izumo Taishakyo Mission of Hawaii (215 N. Kukui St.). Free and open to the public.
