WHO/WHAT: Subaru Telescope will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a fun-filled celebration that will include a taiko drum performance, making of tanzaku wishes (writing a wish on colored paper and hanging it on a bamboo stalk), a kimono fashion show, puppet storytelling, somen-nagashi, calligraphy, kokeshi doll-making, origami, bon dance and a variety of hands-on activities for all ages to enjoy. Subaru’s community partners for this event are the Hawaii Japanese Center, Hilo Meishoin Tsukikage Odorikai, Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Hawai‘i and the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center.
