WHO/WHAT: On Ensemble, made up of Shoji Kameda, Masato “Maz” Baba, Eien Hunter-Ishikawa and Abe Lagrimas Jr., will make its O‘ahu debut in a performance that infuses taiko with jazz, rock and Central Asian overtone singing. On Ensemble was the first American taiko group invited to perform at the National Theater of Japan for the “Nihon no Taiko” concert series. All four members have Hawai‘i ties. Their works have been described as “completely original and brilliantly conceived.”

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, March 9, from 7-9 p.m., at The Leeward Theatre at Leeward Community College.

COST: General admission tickets are $20; $15 for seniors (65 and over), East-West Center, UH faculty, military and veterans; $10 for college students with ID and youth 18 and under.
