WHO/WHAT: The Honolulu Museum of Art’s Book Club presents a discussion on Julie Checkoway’s “The Three-Year Swim Club,” the 1930s story about a group of Maui sugar plantation kids and Coach Soichi Sakamoto, the teacher who trained them to swim in the Pu‘unene irrigation ditch and took them all the way to Olympic gold.

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, Jan. 26, and Wednesday, Jan. 30, 1 p.m., at the Honolulu
Museum of Art.
