WHO/WHAT: Washington Place, the home of Queen Liliu‘okalani, Hawai‘i’s last reigning monarch, and the official residence of the governor and his/her family, will open to the public for a special Christmas Open House hosted by the Washington Place Foundation.
WHEN/WHERE: Friday, Dec. 14, 5-8 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made through www.Eventbrite.com only.
ADMISSION: A $5 donation to the Washington Place Foundation is suggested for adults. Proceeds will benefit programs and the preservation of the historic home.
Adult guests may be required to present a picture ID upon entrance to the property and may be subject to a bag inspection. No large bags are permitted. Free parking available on a first come, first served basis at the state Department of Health (Kina‘u Hale Building) parking lot (enter from Miller Street).
The Christmas Open House and tour of Washington Place began in 1858. The home was built by Queen Liliuokalani’s father-in-law, Capt. John Dominis.
