WHO/WHAT: Hawai‘i historian, author and journalist Tom Coffman will speak at the Joint Memorial Service honoring AJA soldiers of the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Military Intelligence Service and the 1399th Engineer Construction Battalion. Coffman, who has authored several books on the Nisei experience, is currently working on his second book about the Nisei soldiers. The memorial service is sponsored by the Nisei Veterans Legacy and has been designated a Gannenmono event commemorating the 150th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Hawai‘i.
WHEN/WHERE: Sunday, Sept. 30, 9:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. The memorial service is open to the public.
