WHO/WHAT: The Battle of Okinawa, which ended on June 23, 1945, after three months of fierce fighting, will be commemorated with a memorial program sponsored by the Hawaii United Okinawa Association. Survivors of the battle who now reside in Hawai‘i will share their experiences. Military Intelligence Service veteran Shinye Gima will talk about serving in Okinawa during the battle.
