WHO/WHAT: Five local orchid clubs will showcase their best booms at the 64th annual Kunia Orchid Show and Plant Sale. Besides the blooming orchids, there will be educational displays on invasive species, cactus and succulents and arrangements by Sogetsu Ikebana practitioners. Free educational talks will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day, with subjects ranging from orchid raising for beginners; honohono orchid culture; orchid diversity by Thomas Mirenda, director of horticulture and garden operations for the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden in Hilo; and an introduction to species orchids. Gardening supplies will be sold at the on-site Kunia Kountry Store, with food booths staffed by Leilehua High School students.

WHEN/WHERE: Friday through Sunday, March 23-25, at the Leilehua High School Gymnasium (1515 California Ave.). Friday and Saturday hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday hours: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
