Charles is a husband, a dad, a son and a public servant. Charles’ priority at every level of his life and career is to take care of people. From his family, to his city, state and country, Charles is committed to doing his very best for people. His family comes first every day, and he loves his wife, Stacey Kawasaki Djou, and his three children, Nick, Tori and Alli. Stacey is a gosei — a fifth-generation Japanese American. She was born and raised in Hawai‘i by her father, Harvey Hitoshi Kawasaki, and her mother, Carol Aiko Kawasaki. Like Stacey’s father, who fought in Vietnam, Charles serves his country as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve. Charles is a combat veteran who served with the U.S. Army in “Operation Enduring Freedom” in Afghanistan during the surge of coalition forces in 2011-2012.
