Omoiyari . . . Think of others first and good karma will return to you. — Frances H. Kakugawa
Dear Frances,
This is my second letter to you because I am having difficulty dealing with some issues regarding my mom’s stay at the rehab facility.
My mom, as I had mentioned in the last letter, fell and broke her hip, had surgery, was hospitalized for five days, then was moved to a rehab center. She is extremely upset and agitated, yelling that she wants to go home. My daily visits are fine while I’m there, but she gets frantic when I leave. I am exhausted myself and scared for her, as I have not seen her like this since she was diagnosed with dementia eight years ago. Do you have any suggestions? I am seeing a counselor who specializes in aging issues, but don’t know where else to turn for answers. Thank you for your time and concern.
