WHAT/WHEN/WHERE: The 62nd Annual Kunia Orchid Show, known as the largest orchid show of the season and one of the best flower shows on the island, will take place from Thursday, March 18 to Sunday, March 20, at Leilehua High School’s Paul Kobayashi Gymnatorium. (1616 California Ave. in Wahiawa. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Plant sales will end at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
HIGHLIGHTS: Five local orchid clubs will showcase their best blooming specimens, 22 plant vendors will sell orchid plants, including the popular honohono orchid, and an interactive educational display of invasive species will also be provided.
In addition, the Sogetsu Ikebana Club and Rainbow Bonsai Club will have flower displays utilizing both natural and manmade materials. There will be food booths to benefit Leilehua High School’s clubs and athletic departments and a Kunia Kountry Store will offer different kinds of plants, gardening supplies and accessories, as well as homemade baked goods, jellies and more.
Door prizes be be announced every hour and the 2,016th visitor will receive a basket full of beautiful blooming orchids.
