WHAT: The Wailea Village Historic Preservation Community and Friends’ annual mochi pounding celebration.

WHEN/WHERE: Sunday, Dec. 27, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; Hwy. 19 at the 15 mile marker. Parking available at the baseball fields. Look for the MOCHI signs along the way.

HIGHLIGHTS: Local-style plate lunches for sale. New Year’s crafts, food vendors, fortune telling, massage, I Ching readings, floral arrangements, plantation stories, Okinawan taiko drumming, Hawaiian entertainment and more.

COST: Admission is free; plate lunches available for purchase.
