WHO/WHAT: The Ikenobo Ikebana Society – Honolulu Chapter celebrates its 35th anniversary with an exhibition of 50 ikebana arrangements. The history of Ikenobo ikebana is more than 550 years old, but the basic philosophy of “wa,” or peace and harmony, still remains its focal point in the arrangement of flowers.
WHEN/WHERE: Through Oct. 18 at the Honolulu Museum of Art School. Featured is a special floral arrangement by Yuki Ikenobo, 46th Headmaster Designate, from Kyoto, Japan. (One of her arrangements is pictured.) Yuki Ikenobo’s father, the 45th Headmaster Sen`ei Ikenobo, established the Honolulu Chapter 35 years ago.
