WHO/WHAT: The Japanese Women’s Society Foundation presents its second annual Women’s Leadership Summit in Hawaii and its 36th Fashion Show Luncheon at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.
On Friday, March 27, a half-day summit, themed “Health, Beauty & Well-Being” takes place from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Topics being discussed stress the importance of well-being from the inside out.
Among the speakers are Dr. Laurie Tom, who specializes in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism; fashion designer and hairstylist Kensei Takeda; Sulwhasoo Cosmetic Representatives, who will discuss skin care basics; and Dr. Irene Arakaki of Reneux Med Spa.

“East Meets West Fashion” is the theme of the JWSF‘s 36th Fashion Show and Luncheon, which will be held on March 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The “East” fashions will feature an exciting array of designs from Incheon and Seoul — being seen for the first time in Hawai‘i. Many of the designs unveiled in the fashion show will be available for purchase after the show.
The “West” designers are Hawai‘i’s own, ‘Iolani Sportswear, started in 1953 by Keiji and Edith Kawakami. The family‘s second and third generation, led by Lloyd Kawakami, now run the company.
Prior to the luncheon and fashion show, there will be a boutique sale and silent auction.
Cost to attend the fashion show is $100 or $125 for premium runway seating. Tables of 10 are also available for $1,000. Premium tables are $1,250. Attendees with paid seats will be eligible to win special door prizes. Deadline registration is Feb. 28.
