Hawaii Hochi and The Hawai‘i Herald, represented by Hawaii Hochi, Ltd. president Keiichi Tagata, were among three media organizations recognized by Consul General of Japan Toyoei Shigeeda on Dec. 17. Also honored were Hawaii Pacific Press publisher/editor Kazuo Nakamine and KZOO radio president David Furuya. The Consul General’s Commendation recognized the Japanese news media’s role in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Hawai‘i and in the development of the Japanese community.
