Greenwood’s pending departure as University of Hawai‘i president, the Hawaii Herald asked former UH president Dr. Fujio Matsuda for his thoughts on what qualities the next UH president should bring to the job. Matsuda was the nation’s first American of Asian ancestry to be selected as a university president and to this day is the only nonwhite to have served as UH president.
