Congratulations to Bryan Clay, who just won the Olympic gold medal in the decathlon and became the first Hawaii-born or raised athlete in over 50 years to bring home an individual Olympic gold honor. The Castle High School alumnus and Japanese American, who won a silver medal in the event in 2004 and a world championship in 2005, is also the first American since 1996 to win the decathlon. He never trailed in the event and finished with 8,791 points, 240 points ahead of his nearest competitor.

Clay will return home to Hawaii on August 29 to celebrate the victory with family, friends and the public in a three-day homecoming tour, which kicks off with a press conference and autograph party at the Royal Grove at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center from 3 to 5 p.m.
